English Grammar ಪಾಠ 3: PARTS OF SPEECH

When you speak or write a sentence in the English language, all the words in that sentence fall into one of the following categories. There are generally Eight such parts in the English language.

These parts or categories are commonly known as “parts of speech”. There are various parts of speech but the major parts of speech are only eight, namely Noun, Pronoun, Verb, Adjective, Adverb, Prepositions, Conjunctions, and Interjections.

ನೀವು ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ವಾಕ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದಾಗ ಅಥವಾ ಬರೆದಾಗ, ಆ ವಾಕ್ಯದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪದಗಳು ಕೆಲವು ವರ್ಗಗಳಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿರುತ್ತವೆ. ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂತಹ ಎಂಟು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ವರ್ಗಗಳಿವೆ. ಈ ವರ್ಗಗಳನ್ನು “Parts of Speech” (ಪದಪ್ರಭೇದಗಳು) ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

ಪದಪ್ರಭೇದಗಳು ಹಲವಾರು ಇದ್ದರೂ, ಪ್ರಮುಖವಾದವು ಎಂಟು ಮಾತ್ರ. ಅವುಗಳು:

1. ನಾಮಪದ (Noun)

2. ಸರ್ವನಾಮ (Pronoun)

3. ಕ್ರಿಯಾಪದ (Verb)

4. ಗುಣವಾಚಕ (Adjective)

5. ಕ್ರಿಯಾವಿಶೇಷಣ (Adverb)

6. ಪೂರ್ವಪ್ರತ್ಯಯ (Preposition)

7. ಸಂಧಿಪದ (Conjunction)

8. ಉದ್ಗಾರ ಪದ (Interjection)

ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್ ವ್ಯಾಕರಣದಲ್ಲಿ “Parts of Speech” ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ.

🔹 What is a Noun?

A Noun is a word that names a person, place, thing, or idea.

                           Or

Name of a person, place, or thing and an animals are called Noun.

👉 Examples:

Person: Ramesh, teacher

Place: Mysore, school

Thing: book, table

Idea: honesty, happiness

ನಾಮಪದ (Noun) ಎಂದರೆ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ, ಸ್ಥಳ, ವಸ್ತು ಅಥವಾ ಭಾವನೆಗಳ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಸೂಚಿಸುವ ಪದ.

ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗಳು:

ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ: ರಮೇಶ್, ಶಿಕ್ಷಕ

ಸ್ಥಳ: ಮೈಸೂರು, ಶಾಲೆ

ವಸ್ತು: ಪುಸ್ತಕ, ಮೇಜು

ಭಾವನೆ: ಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕತೆ, ಸಂತೋಷ

🔹 Classification of Noun (ನಾಮಪದಗಳ ವರ್ಗೀಕರಣ)

There are mainly 5 types of nouns:

A). Proper noun (ಅಂಕಿತ ನಾಮ)

B). Common noun (ರೂಢನಾಮ)

C) Collective noun (ಸಮೂಹ ವಾಚಕ ನಾಮಪದ)

D) Material noun (ವಸ್ತುವಾಚಕನಾಮ ಪದ)

E) Abstract noun (ಭಾವವಚಕ ನಾಮಪದ)
