Interjection (ಭಾವಸೂಚಕಾವ್ಯಗಳು)

An interjection is a word or a short expression used to show sudden feelings or emotions like joy, surprise, pain, anger, etc.

It is usually followed by an exclamation mark (!).

ಉದ್ಗಾರ ಪದ ಎಂದರೆ ಭಾವನೆಗಳನ್ನು ತಕ್ಷಣ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸುವ ಪದಗಳು.

Examples:

1. Joy (ಸಂತೋಷ)

a) Hurrah! We won the match.

    ಹುರ್ರಾ! ನಾವು ಪಂದ್ಯವನ್ನು ಗೆದ್ದೆವು.

2. Surprise (ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯ)

a) Oh! You are here.

    ಅಯ್ಯೋ! ನೀನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದೀಯಾ.

3. Pain (ನೋವು)

a) Ouch! It hurts.

   ಅಯ್ಯೋ! ನನಗೆ ನೋವಾಗಿದೆ.

4. Sadness (ದುಃಖ)

a) Alas! He is no more.

   ಅಯ್ಯೋ! ಅವನು ಇನ್ನಿಲ್ಲ.

5. Calling someone (ಯಾರನ್ನಾದರೂ ಕರೆಯುವುದು)

a) Hey! Come here.

   ಓಯ್! ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾ.

6. Approval (ಒಪ್ಪಿಗೆ)

a) Bravo! Well done.

ಶಭಾಷ್! ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿದೆ.

Important Points

Interjections are not grammatically connected to the sentence.

They are mostly used in spoken language.

They express strong emotions quickly.
