Conjunction (ಸಂಧಿ ಪದ) – Meaning

A conjunction is a word that joins (connects) words, phrases, or sentences.

ಸಂಧಿ ಪದ ಎಂದರೆ ಪದಗಳು, ವಾಕ್ಯಖಂಡಗಳು ಅಥವಾ ವಾಕ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂಪರ್ಕಿಸುವ ಪದ.

Examples:

1. Joining Words (ಪದಗಳನ್ನು ಜೋಡಿಸುವುದು)

a) Ram and Shyam are friends.

   ರಾಮ್ ಮತ್ತು ಶ್ಯಾಮ್ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರು.

2. Joining Phrases (ವಾಕ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಜೋಡಿಸುವುದು)

a) She is poor but honest.

    ಅವಳು ಬಡವಳು ಆದರೆ ಸತ್ಯವಂತಳು.

3. Joining Sentences (ವಾಕ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಜೋಡಿಸುವುದು)

a) I was tired so I slept early.

    ನಾನು ದಣಿದಿದ್ದೆ ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಬೇಗ ಮಲಗಿದೆ.

Common Conjunctions (ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಸಂಯೋಜಕ ಪದಗಳು)

And = ಮತ್ತು

but = ಆದರೆ

or = ಅಥವಾ

because = ಏಕೆಂದರೆ

so = ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ

although = ಆದರೂ

Types of Conjunctions (ಸಂಯೋಜಕ ಪದಗಳ ವಿಧಗಳು)

1. Coordinating Conjunctions (ಸಮಾನ ಸಂಯೋಜಕ)

Join equal parts

Examples: and, but, or,

Example:

a) She is kind and helpful.

   ಅವಳು ದಯಾಳು ಮತ್ತು ಸಹಾಯಕರಳು.

2. Subordinating Conjunctions (ಅಧೀನ ಸಂಯೋಜಕ)

Join dependent clause to main clause

Examples: because, although, if

a) I stayed home because it rained.

   ಮಳೆ ಬಂದದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳಿದೆ.

3. Correlative Conjunctions (ಜೋಡಿ ಸಂಯೋಜಕ)

Work in pairs

Examples: either…or, neither…nor

a) Either you come or stay here.

  ಅಥವಾ ನೀನು ಬಾ ಅಥವಾ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಇರು.

Simple Definition (Easy to Remember)

ಮತ್ತುಷ್ಟು ಸುದ್ದಿಗಳನ್ನು ಓದಲು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕ್ಲಿಕ್‌ ಮಾಡಿ
